We currently have an exciting opportunity for an entry-level Risk Accountant within our Risk Advisory & Internal Control team in Poway, Ca. This position, under close supervision performs independent monitoring reviews in accordance with applicable professional standards and assists with process documentation as assigned. A successful team member must be adaptable and flexible to constant changing business requirements in a highly technical environment.
DEPARTMENT’s CHARTER: To provide independent assurance over the adequacy, effectiveness, and continued relevance of GA-ASI's system of risk management, governance and internal controls.
Provide objective risk advice to GA-ASI oversight body and senior management.
Evaluate the adequacy of GA-ASI’s system of internal controls over key Business Systems & Financial Reporting.
Prepare magnitude of impact and root cause analyses to highlight critical issues and prioritize remediation efforts.
Recommend improvements in risk management (e.g. required controls, control design gaps, and best practices).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applies knowledge of internal control concepts and accounting theory to execute individual test plans.
Applies knowledge of functional/operating unit processes and accounting information flow to assess accuracy and quality of sampled transactions (e.g. reconciliations and journal entries).
Analyzes findings, identifies root-causes, and concludes on testing.
Gathers and analyzes financial data to produce trend analyses.
Assists with preparation of internal presentations.
Prepares internal presentations.
Provides assistance to senior Risk Analyst.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related professional degree. Must have strong understanding of general accounting principles and theories, accounting information system, and auditing concepts.
Must possess strong: 1) Work ethic with flexibility to work extended hours; 2) Organization and time management skills; 3) Communication and interpersonal skills; 4) Ability to exercise judgement; 5) Analytical skills with attention to detail; and 6) Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
Able to work extended hours as required.
CPA candidate is highly desired.
Experience with Visio and ERP system a plus.
