We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Manufacturing Engineer within our ASI Division.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble manufacturing parts or products and to promote efficient utilization.

  • Review manufacturing schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.

  • Generates Stationized Work Instructions (SWI’s).

  • Performs functional testing of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

  • Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of production design changes on expenditures for management review and action.

  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve manufacturing production problems, maximize reliability, or minimize costs.

  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.

  • Communicate with management and manufacturing personnel to develop production and design standards.

  • Study product requirements and design manufacturing and information systems to meet requirements.

  • Clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to both technical and non-technical audiences, especially regarding manufacturing processes, engineering issues and proposed changes, and quality issues and dispositions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing methodologies for waste reduction, 5S, Standard Work, TAKT, Pull System, single piece flow, Value Stream Mapping, cell design, and manufacturing

  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.

  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.

  • Able to work extended hours as required.
