We have an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Hardware Systems Engineer in our Ground Systems group located in Poway, CA.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support for all phases of engineering (concept, development, pre-production, production, and sustainment).

  • Support operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems; develops effective approaches to resolving those issues. Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair GCS systems by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

  • Work with other team members to define system design requirements. Work with other groups such as Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Program Management and Manufacturing to facilitate task completion.

  • Work with engineering support organizations to produce documentation such as engineering drawings, source control drawings, system specifications, test procedures and review their work prior to release.

  • Develop Interface Control Documents, Hardware Requirement Specifications, Performance Specifications, presentations and review test plans/procedures.

  • Oversee Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) sustaining engineering tasks and collaborate with manufacturing on GCS system integration and retrofit activities.

  • Represent the organization as a prime technical contact and provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.

  • Develop and maintain engineering schedules/budgets for programs tasks or subtasks.

  • Provide support for proposals/white papers, and interface with customers.

  • Investigate and resolve problem areas and collaborate with engineering, operations and maintenance personnel to document technical solutions.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, four or more years of experience with a Master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Must demonstrate an excellent understanding of military and/or commercial systems, a strong working knowledge of the engineering development process, and an understanding of logistic support.

  • Must possess the ability to develop, acquire, interpret and communicate engineering technical data.

  • The ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them in an evolving environment.

  • The ability to organize, schedule and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level.

  • The ability to identify issues and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex technical problems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document, present and report recommendations and excellent knowledge of computer operations and applications.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.

  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.

  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.

  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Able to work extended hours as required.
