We have an exciting opportunity as an Electrical Engineer supporting the Facilities department, located in Poway, CA. Under general direction, this position is responsible for providing electrical engineering support and conducts activities related to short and long-term infrastructure planning and capital improvement construction projects and maintenance operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides technical support for production and maintenance operations involving the installation of new equipment, modification of existing equipment, and repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment and related systems.
Leads the implementation of the failures solving process using the structured methodology for Root Cause Failure Analysis and supports and validates recommendations from failure reports.
Responsible to present and validate recommendations with Operational Management.
Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of systems and procedures to improve maintenance plans, policies, and programs.
Supports implementations of preventative maintenance programs for all production equipment and other facilities such as switchgear, power generators, motors, transformers, UPS, and any other electrical equipment as required.
Creates and modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and (preventative) maintenance requirements.
Recommends selection of vendors and contractors for the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies, and contracting of engineering consultants, workshops and specialized technical services to improve operating efficiency.
Reviews vendors operating and maintenance manuals and drawings relating to new equipment for completeness/technical correctness and ensure information is transferred to CMMS, maintenance strategy and maintenance procedures.
Keeps up-to-date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline.
Creates and modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide key input to (preventative) maintenance requirements.
Incorporates and standardize best practices into site specifications, standards, and procedures.
Creates, manages, completes, and documents projects that improve safety, improve quality, and/or reduce cost.
Provides electrical engineering support for large capital projects: major building renovations and new facilities construction.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Typically requires a bachelors degree in engineering and four or more years of progressive engineering experience.
May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills,
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
Strong budget management skills is strongly desired.
Procurement management experience is preferred.
Experience working in a multi-site environment is a plus.
A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
