Diazyme, an affiliate of General Atomics, is a cGMP and ISO 13485 certified medical device manufacturer. Diazyme uses its proprietary enzyme technologies to develop diagnostic reagents which can be used on most automated chemistry analyzers in user-friendly formats. Their products include test kits for diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, liver disease, cancer markers, renal disease, diabetes, and electrolytes.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Bio-Technician to join Diazyme Laboratories within the R & D group. The position will develop enzymatic assays and immunoassays used in clinical settings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for participant in the assay development, assay optimization, and application on various clinical chemistry analyzers.
Post development activities include manufacturing support, technical support, and other post launch product activities.
May participate in the development of operating procedures, regulatory requirements, safety guidelines, and manufacturing practices and prepares reports as requested.
Maintains and updates a variety of confidential and sensitive electronic and/or hard copy records and/or files.
Prepares reports as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Typically requires an associates degree in biology, microbiology or related discipline and three or more years of related experience working in an academic or industrial biology or microbiology laboratory. Equivalent professional experience in an academic or industrial biology or microbiology laboratory may be substituted in lieu of education
Minimum two years of experience in chemiluminescent assay development.
Requires a general understanding of biological/microbiological theories and principles as well as a working knowledge of laboratory protocols, and regulatory and safety requirements.
Must possess: (1) the ability to interpret data and identify and analyze issues, contributing solutions to moderately complex problems; (2) good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to explain general to mid-level information and effectively communicate with all levels of employees; (3) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and (4) the ability to use basic office/scientific software and knowledge of basic computer operations and applications.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
