We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time systems engineer in our Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test Department. This position will support a variety of space and weapon system projects in Huntsville, AL.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide systems engineering support to the development of small satellites, projectiles, missiles, or sensor systems.
Provide systems engineering support for: development and management of design requirements, Concept of Operations definition, functional decomposition, verification plans, system architectures, interface definitions, design reviews, risk management, subcontractor statements of work, integrated master schedules, etc.
Facilitate rapid resolution of delays and issues that impact of systems engineering activities through real-time, thorough communication with task leads, program management and other leadership as required.
Collaborate daily with GA engineering and program management teams.
Produce systems engineering documentation and make technical presentations as required.
Support development, review, and editing of technical documents and proposals as required.
Perform other duties as required.

Clearance Level: Secret
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, four or more years of experience with a master’s degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
US citizenship is required.
Demonstrate strong systems engineering expertise including definition and development of system and subsystem level technical requirements, requirements validation and verification processes including required analyses and testing, risk management including risk identification and mitigation planning.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and MBSE tools such as MagicDraw is highly desired.
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas.
Ability to multi-task, demonstrate strong initiative and work ethic, and work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
Able to work extended hours as required.
Travel expectation: 10-20%.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance up to Top Secret level if needed.
